About Us

Investing in Africa

BrightFlag International was founded in the United Kingdom in 2012 to invest, develop, build and promote long-term empowerment partnerships for the delivery of Social Infrastructure Projects in Africa.

BrightFlag founders have dedicated the past decade to empowering businesses, governments and communities across the globe in various capacities. It’s founders were instrumental in leading the UK government’s delivery of humanitarian aid across West Africa during the Ebola crisis. In West Africa we supported the delivery of new schools as well as upskilling, training and empowering the Education Ministry, we advising a Health Ministry on delivery of a new regional hospital, and delivered a specialist medical facility, in collaboration with UK NHS. Most recently, the founders have supported the delivery of several healthcare facilities across Southern, Eastern and Western Africa.

The Covid-19 pandemic exposed the fragility of health systems and infrastructure and inability to access medical devices across the African continent. Investment in healthcare is critical to economic growth, and a significant way to improve and extend lives. As BrightFlag’s greatest successes have been in delivering healthcare infrastructure, we have shifted our focus to where we can make the most impact across Africa.

In 2023 BrightFlag Healthcare was launched in Jersey, as a development & investment company focused on implementing healthcare infrastructure projects across Africa, from concept through to construction, with complete medical equipment service and facilities management solutions.

Affordable medical equipment for the diagnosis and treatment management of noncommunicable and communicable diseases, particularly those prevalent in Africa, has always been a vulnerability in Africa’s healthcare delivery. In 2024, we made the decision to diversify BrightFlag Healthcare offering into supporting the development and manufacturing of affordable medical devices and equipment through a combination of seed capital investment, mentoring, customised technical or commercial assistance to grow Africa’s medical equipment innovation.
